Thomas Hammel

Thomas is a french linguist who specializes in Sign-Language phonetics and phonology. After a master’s degree from the university Paris Sciences et Lettres in cognitive science he moved to iceland in 2019. There he participated in a project to map the phonemes of Icelandic Sign-Language, and will be teaching in an introduction to Sign-Language linguistics at the University of Iceland in the spring.

With a long-standing experience in teaching and education, he is passionate about bridging cultures and sharing experiences. He practices classical singing as a hobby and is a member of Háskólakórinn, of which he was the social director in 2021-2022.
